fragments (2018-2021)

Fragments is the key work for my PhD project. It is a video artwork that was constructed using found family photographs, snippets of newly produced film, newly produced audio and audio from my own family home videos. I recontextualize found family photographs and home videos using video art to emulate the aesthetic qualities of traumatic memories in my own experience in contrast to my own family archives and stories. I explore my lived experience with the sensorial and embodied dimensions of remembering a personal past among the saturation of conflicting family imagery and stories when trauma is experienced, and the disjuncture that accompanies this experience.
